Six competitions, thousands of fans, a unique atmosphere: The World Cup in Oberhof brings the biathlon world together

Oberhof will once again be transformed into a biathlon Mecca at the start of the year. From 09. to 12. January 2025, the best biathletes in the world will be making a guest appearance in Thuringia and compete for victories and important World Cup points. Thousands of fans in the ARENA am Rennsteig and along the legendary route through the thuringian forest will cheer them on loudly and push them to top performances. A colourful supporting program awaits them.

A total of six competitions are on the program of the BMW IBU World Cup Biathlon 2025

in Oberhof, which has been an integral part of the winter sports calendar for years. The women's sprint on Thursday, January 09, 2025 at 2.20 pm will open the first-class sporting event. The men's sprint will follow on Friday, January 10, 2025 at 2.20 pm. On Saturday, January 11, 2025, the women (12.30 pm) and men (2.45 pm) will go on the chase. The World Cup will be concluded by the single mixed relay (12.20 pm) and the mixed relay (2.30 pm) on Sunday, January 12, 2025.

While precision, calm and good nerves are required at the shooting range in the ARENA am Rennsteig, the course in the thuringian forest is a real challenge for the athletes. The circuit is considered one of the most demanding in the biathlon circuit. The Birxsteig alone, where the spectators sometimes crowd in rows of ten to cheer on the athletes enjoys cult status - and can make the difference between victory and defeat.

Opening ceremony and award ceremonies on the town square

However, the best atmosphere is not only guaranteed during the six competitions. The supporting program of the BMW IBU World Cup Biathlon 2025 in Oberhof is also packed full and will inspire fans of all ages.
